Summer Sacred Music Workshop 2024
The ninth annual Southeastern Summer Sacred Music Workshop will be held Friday and Saturday, August 2nd and 3rd 2024, at St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church in the beautiful pinewoods of Raleigh, North Carolina.
We are pleased to invite you to the ninth annual Southeastern Sacred Music Workshop. This two-day experience will immerse beginner to advanced singers, conductors, and clergy in the beauty of sacred chant and polyphony.
Led by a faculty with a wealth of experience in sacred music, the workshop offers beginners the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of reading square notes, build the foundations for a solid music program, and develop skills in singing plainchant and polyphony. Advanced musicians will enjoy in-depth courses that will increase your understanding and appreciation of sacred music and equip you with the tools and knowledge to bring it to your parish.
With breakout sessions covering a variety of topics and ensemble work focused on singing the proper and ordinary of the Mass, the workshop is designed to equip choristers, choir masters, cantors, and music directors with the tools they need to build a thriving music program or to reinvigorate a program that has become stagnant.
A registration fee of $125 covers all materials as well as Friday night dinner, Saturday continental breakfast and full lunch. Coffee, tea and snacks will be available both days.
What to expect?
This workshop will introduce beginner participants to plainchant and polyphony, and everyone will have the opportunity to join a chant group of his or her choice from beginner to advanced. Advanced musicians and returning participants will be challenged by new repertoire for polyphonic propers and ordinary.
